Salt Lake City, Utah – August 1-4
It was decided that after this 200th anniversary year of Joseph Smith’s surgery that the reunion’s will move to the even years lining up with the 2020 Vision year.
One of fun things that happened was the performance of the Nashville Tribute Band for the Joseph Smith Sr. Family on Thursday night after registration. This was a exciting way to start off the reunion events.
Friday was left open for smaller family units to meet. We received a couple of reports from some of these groups listed below.
Saturday began with Joseph’s Miracle Run and bagpipes at the great setting of This Is The Place Heritage Park. The family enjoyed a picnic hosted by the Samuel Smith Family under the direction of Bob Smith. We learned about Dr. Nathan Smith from Dr. LeRoy Wirthlin who researched Joseph’s surgery. The day’s celebrations closed with a message from Elder M. Russell Ballard.
Sunday the family sat together for Music and the Spoken Word. After the performance, time was given to honor Dr. David Longcope. Dr. Longcope is a seventh generation doctor descended from Dr. Nathan Smith.
