Kirtland, Ohio; Palmyra, New York; Joseph Smith Birthplace Memorial in Sharon, Vermont – August 11, 13 & 15
The 18th biennial reunion will take place on three different locations. The dates and locations were selected to commemorate the Prophet Joseph Smith’s 200th birthday. Many members of the family traveled on their own and participated in some or all of the activities.
Thursday, August 11th, the reunion meeting began at 9:00 am in the nearby Kirtland LDS Stake Center. Afterward the family visited the Kirtland Temple, Newell K Whitney Home and Store, the Gristmill, Sawmill, Ashery, Schoolhouse, Isaac Morley Farm, Joseph Smith Home, Hyrum Smith Home, Sidney Rigdon Home, Kirtland Cemetery, Temple Stone Quarry, John Johnson Inn, and the John Johnson Farmhouse in nearby Hiram.
Saturday, August 13th, the group met at 9:00 am at the Palmyra LDS Stake Center for the second reunion meeting. Afterwards their was the opportunity to visit the Palmyra Temple, Smith Family homes, Sacred Grove, Hill Cumorah, Egbert B. Grandin Printing Office, Alvin Smith’s grave, and the Martin Harris Farm.
On August 15th, in Vermont the activities will be in celebration of the 200th birthday of the Prophet Joseph. The third reunion meeting began at 1:00 pm at the Sharon LDS Ward Meetinghouse, adjacent to where he was born.
